UK Funghi Forays

For individuals, groups or team building – a funghi foray is always a great day out!

Get out in the fresh air and learn a bit more about wild mushrooms on one of our UK based funghi forays. Taking place in the beautiful Peak District, each event lasts around four hours. We’ll explore an area with fields, woodland and stunning views before enjoying some homemade wild mushroom soup together

During the walk we’ll talk about the mushrooms we find along the way, and you’ll learn basic identification techniques such as the main characteristics of the different funghi families, to help you to start picking with confidence if you are a beginner.

The emphasis is on having fun and learning some useful tips on how to recognise the many tasty edible funghi that can be found if you know what to look out for! By the end of the walk you should have a good grounding in at least one of the families of beginners mushrooms, like boletus & other ceps, and a basic knowledge of how to spot the nasties.

Testimonials…..

“Just want to say thank you for a fantastic day on Saturday, I thoroughly enjoyed it and can’t wait to come over again.
I’m heading up to the hills this weekend armed with my mushroom knife and Roger Phillips book, so you may get a flurry of photos with question marks next to them (don’t worry I won’t be eating any thing I’m not 110% sure about.)”             Jamie McHugh, Nottingham

“Just a short note to say how lovely it was meeting you both last Sunday, and what a fab day the boys had, they really really enjoyed themselves, and Phil is busy cooking his mushroom with scrambled egg for his breakfast as we speak.  They found the trek really enjoyable and informative and I am now looking for a book about mushroom picking for a present for him.  Thank you also for your hospitality, they loved their lunch.” Kath Nixon, Staffordshire

“Thank you so much for today. I’ve learned so much about edible mushrooms and it was nice and chilled ambling in the sun. Everyone was so friendly too.Your soup and cake were awesome! We will definitely both be there next year and my son, Oscar, wants to come too!” Dave Ingham, Derbyshire.

“Thank you for the photo and for today. We both really enjoyed ourselves. A fantastic foray for beginners, the focus on finding ‘beginners mushrooms’ has given us confidence to actually go out there and pick some porcini and meadow wax etc for ourselves. The two forages I have been on before have just left me dazed and confused because you need to recognise so many characteristics of the mushroom to know it’s safe to eat you never bother trying on your own.

Thank you also for the soup and cake, so delicious. I like to pride myself on baking the best carrot cake but I wouldn’t want to level up to you in a cake competition!”  Emily Clegg, Derbyshire
