Autumn is coming, and maybe it’s of some comfort to know that all the rain we’ve had this summer ought to lead to a good mushroom season!
We still have a few places left on our popular Peak District forays in Hayfield, on Sunday September 15.
The emphasis is on having fun and learning some useful tips on how to recognise the many tasty edible funghi that can be found once you know what to look out for. By the end of the walk you should have a good grounding in at least one of the families of beginners mushrooms, like boletus and other ceps, as well as basic knowledge in how to spot the nasties.
The walk ends with lunch al fresco, where we fry up some of the mushrooms we have picked to enjoy with tasty sausages and bread, hot and cold drinks and home made carrot cake. If the weather is inclement you don’t need to worry about getting wetter while you eat, there will be gazebos to shelter under. You’ll find full details on our UK forays page.
